Ayuthaya, about 85 km north of Bangkok, was the capital of Siam from 1350 till 1767.
The Burmese invaded Ayutthaya and the capital fell in 1767.
Most of the city's temples and religious sculptures were destroyed by fire.
However, proud monuments to its glory are still standing, some restored.

Even earthquake left its footprints...

Buddha head overgrown by fig tree...


Only a few Buddha remain intact.
Most got the head cut off, either to be put into the museum(for protection) or stolen!
